Stéphanie
Today, H.S.H Princess Stéphanie is the kingpin of the Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo.
As the President of the Festival, she is very involved in the design and organisation of the shows, with a principal aim of respecting the concept of traditional Circus, selecting the best international acts and bringing her professionalism to the production of the Festival.
H.S.H Princess Stéphanie is also the Honorary President of the Fédération Mondiale du Cirque which represents circuses and circus schools from around the world, preserves the values of the circus arts and promotes their development.
H.S.H. Prince Albert II and H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie,
surrounded by Louis Ducruet and Camille Gottlieb at the 46th Festival.
The Festival: A family tradition
1974
In 1974, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, who was passionate about circus, decided to create a Festival to help and support traditional circus and circus families: the 1st Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo was born!
2005
The love of circus is transmitted from father to daughter, and Princess Stéphanie became the President of the largest circus festival in the world in 2005!
2012
The tradition carries on and in 2012 H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie and her daughter Pauline Ducruet decide to create New Generation, a Festival for young artistes. Pauline has become the President of the International Jury.
2024
As part of the Commemoration of the centenary of Prince Rainier III, presided over by H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie, a unique exhibition entitled “The Prince at the Heart of the Circus” was organised.
The Festival celebrated its 50th anniversary with its 46th edition (1974-2024) and closed the Centenary Celebrations of Prince Rainier III (1923-2023), Founder of the Festival.
This exceptional event included a grand Circus Parade in the city and an Open Air Circus Show on the Place du Palais Princier. A unique and moving moment in the Festival’s history!
